Last week, I had the privilege of traveling to Stockholm for the Snowflake World Tour with my good colleagues Christoffer Wichmann and Martin Olesen.
My highlight of the day was Mats Stellwall’s presentation on the streamlined, end-to-end ML experience that has been evolving over the last years in Snowflake. My personal key takeaways included:
— ML Lineage; overview of what data is used for training, feature creation, etc.
— Various explain functions; automatic generation for productionised models.
— Treating models as schema objects (which speaks directly to my SQL heart); enables fine-grain security through schema-granted access.
I also want to mention Fredrik Thomsen for his insightful talk on the Polaris Catalog and Iceberg Catalog Interoperability. It’s great to see these implementations, especially since a colleague of mine first introduced me to the Iceberg Nessie integration a couple of years ago.
It’s also worth mentioning that Intellishore, together with Solita, won the Snowflake Nordic Growth Partner of the Year award. I was lucky enough to be on stage, accepting the award alongside our friends from Solita!
To continue the snowy theme of the event, we celebrated at the nearest ice bar — perhaps an idea for a snow-themed after-party venue for next year, Snowflake? 😉❄️🩵
